HURRICANE FILMS

Since March 2000 Hurricane Films have been telling great stories - fact and fiction - for both film and television.

In early 2004 the company produced its first feature film, Under The Mud – a unique collaboration with community groups working with young people in South Liverpool. The film has enjoyed a great response from critics and audiences alike at film festivals around the world, and was described by The Guardian as “possibly the best British Film you will never see”.

The latest feature from Hurricane Films is the lyrical, visual poem, ‘Of Time and the City’, directed by one of Britain’s greatest auteurs, Terence Davies. The film was selected to play at a special ‘out of competition screening’ at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival where it received huge critical acclaim. The film has so far been invited to over 35 film festivals around the world and will receive a theatrical release in the autumn.

We’re always looking for that next story…

Solon Papadopoulos started out as a marine engineer but began his creative life as a stills photographer-moving on to shoot film after a 16mm short course at the National Film School. After making documentaries and short dramas for the last few years as a freelance, and collecting a number of awards along the way, he founded Hurricane Films in March 2000.

Roy Boulter
Writer, Producer

After an eventful career in the music business with The Farm (‘All Together Now’, Groovy Train’ and the No.1 Album ‘Spartacus’), Roy became a successful television scriptwriter with around a hundred and forty writing credits on ‘The Bill’, ‘Hollyoaks’ and an eight-year stint on ‘Brookside’. Most recently he wrote the ‘two families’ episode for the RTS and BAFTA-winning second series of Jimmy McGovern’s BBC1 drama ‘The Street’.
